AWS Unveils Claude Opus 4.7 and AWS Interconnect General Availability
AWS today announced two major cloud advancements: the immediate availability of Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7 on Amazon Bedrock and the general availability of AWS Interconnect, a private connectivity service for multicloud and last-mile networking. The moves underscore AWS's push to dominate enterprise AI and multicloud infrastructure.
Claude Opus 4.7: Next-Generation Agentic Intelligence
Claude Opus 4.7, Anthropic's most powerful model to date, is now live on Amazon Bedrock. It achieves 64.3% on SWE-bench Pro and 87.6% on SWE-bench Verified, setting new records in agentic coding and complex reasoning. “This model redefines what enterprises can expect from AI—long-horizon autonomy, deep code reasoning, and professional-grade knowledge work,” said Dr. Sarah Lin, AWS Vice President of AI Services.
The model leverages Bedrock's next-generation inference engine with dynamic capacity allocation and adaptive thinking, which adjusts token budgets based on request complexity. It also supports a 1 million token context window and high-resolution image analysis for charts, dense documents, and UI screens. Available in US East (N. Virginia), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Ireland), and Europe (Stockholm), Claude Opus 4.7 offers up to 10,000 requests per minute per account per region.
AWS Interconnect Goes GA with Multicloud and Last-Mile Options
AWS Interconnect, now generally available, provides two new managed private connectivity capabilities. AWS Interconnect – Multicloud offers Layer 3 private connections between AWS VPCs and Google Cloud (with Azure and OCI support coming later in 2026). Traffic stays on AWS's global backbone and partner clouds' private networks, secured by MACsec encryption, multi-facility resiliency, and CloudWatch monitoring. AWS published the specification on GitHub under Apache 2.0 to encourage broader adoption.
AWS Interconnect – Last Mile simplifies high-speed private connections from branch offices, data centers, and remote sites. It automatically provisions four redundant connections across two physical locations, configures BGP routing, and activates MACsec encryption and Jumbo Frames by default. Bandwidth scales from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps, enabling seamless hybrid cloud networking.

Amazon Bedrock is AWS's fully managed service for building generative AI applications using foundation models from leading AI companies. Claude Opus 4.7 is the latest iteration of Anthropic's most capable model family, optimized for enterprise workloads. AWS Interconnect builds on AWS's existing Direct Connect service, extending private connectivity to multicloud and edge environments.
The demand for secure, low-latency connectivity between clouds and on-premises infrastructure has surged as enterprises adopt hybrid and multi-cloud strategies. According to Gartner, 75% of organizations will use at least two cloud providers by 2027.
